At Progressive Spine & Sports Medicine, we are one of the few clinics in the country utilizing stem cell injections to promote healing. We have two options for patients who are candidates for stem cell injections. The first utilizes donated stem cells from umbilical cords. These cells are donated after live births, after the umbilical cord has been cut – so there are none of the legal or ethical concerns that come from using fetal stem cells. The second option involves using a patient’s own stem cells. With new technology, a patient’s own stem cells can be taken from the fat in the “love handle” area or from bone marrow. It is a simple outpatient procedure with minimal to no pain afterward.
Regenerative injections are done in our medical office in Glen Rock, NJ with either x-ray or ultrasound guidance, and they are no more invasive than a typical injection into a joint or tendon. There is minimal to no pain after the injection – compared to PRP injections, which usually result in increased soreness for a few days. Myofascial Release focuses on the connective tissue that surrounds muscles. The physician feels the connective tissue to find areas of tightness and restriction. The tissues are then gently mobilized until they are “released.”
MUSCLE ENERGY
With Muscle Energy, the patient moves a body part against resistance provided by the physician. The goal is to progressively increase the mobility of a joint.
